Experience Typesetter| Tapas Media | March 2017-Present I format and style English translations of Korean text into different page layouts from Korean imported comics so that they form a legible and aesthetically pleasing final product. I'm in charge of overseeing several comics, managing my portion of a spreadsheet and updating a daily calendar. In addition, I update and upload the final episodes to Tapas directly and do quite a bit of quality checking. As this is a team effort, I am in charge of checking and revising different parts of the comic.
Instructional Aide II | TRIO at Canada College | June- August 2017 Taught a total of three high school summer classes including; Writing 1, Writing 2, and Computer Animation. Here, I researched/ created lesson plans, taught and input grades for a total of 25 students. I helped with supervising and mentoring low-income and first-generation students in preparation for both their high school and post high school careers, teaching them to be leaders. At the end of the year, I created and submitted student evaluations, and I submitted a folder with all the lesson plans and lectures I gave throughout the summer.
Co-Instructor and Lead Relations Manager | UC Berkeley Artistic Development for Animation| June 2015 - May 2017 Co-Instructed for an animation class (ADFA) at UC Berkeley where I helped teach students how to storyboard, create character/ environment designs, and create animatics (Most of the pre-production pipeline in Pixar’s Animation Pipeline). I helped teach an average of 30 students each semester. In addition, I was also in charge of advertising for the class, and doing paperwork/ outreaching to both students and faculty.
Co-Instructor and Lead Relations Manager | UC Berkeley Comics Studio | January 2016 - May 2017 Co-Instructor of Comics Studio where I helped teach 15-20 college students how to write and draw for a professional comic book industry. Among the subjects taught, I specialized in teaching about character design, environment design, and publishing work among other things. I was also responsible for outreaching to both students and faculty and was therefore in charge of collecting and submitting a lot of paperwork.
“Only Love” Animator and Environment Designer | UC Berkeley CNM 190 | August 2016 - May 2017 Worked as one of the head animators on a yearlong project called “Only Love” where I focused on creating the environment designs for our short, and I worked on animating the main protagonist, Reggie, in two critical scenes. I worked with a team of 14 other peers and provided both critical feedback and support for those who wanted/ needed help with their scenes. Since then, our short has been screened at various showings including the Alternative Acts Worth Ryder Showing.
“Wall-less” Animator and Character Designer | UC Berkeley | 2016 Worked with a team of 4 other animators in a period of 24 hours to complete the 24 Hour Animation Contest hosted by CSU Long Beach. Here I helped brainstorm character designs for the characters in our short and fully designed the grandma. I worked collectively with my team in all parts of the animation process including timing, making key poses, drawing in-betweens and coloring. I worked with my team in this fast paced environment in order to create a visually appealing story that focuses on a world without walls. Stanford Rise Intern | Stanford University | June - August 2012 At this summer intern job, I was given the task of matching together a series of road networks that would be affected by any bridge failures in the case of a San Andreas or Hayward Fault Earthquake. I worked collectively with my mentor Mahalia Miller, Professor Jack Baker and an undergraduate named Samuel Cortes in answering the question "How do Earthquakes Affect the Infrastructure Networks in Seismically Active Regions?" What I specifically did is I matched 1,869 road links to bridge points in the San Francisco Bay Area on ArcGIS, and I created a database that included this information and more. I ended up staying for a longer period of time in order to help furthering the research that was being conducted.
